about

This EP began when, in late September, I decided on a whim that I'd like to learn some animation for future videos. As I'm shit at drawing, I decided to try 3D modelling with Blender. The first thing I made was a wee model of a church, and that set me thinking I should try to do something in time for Hallowe'en. So after 5 weeks of insanely intensive graft (about 400 hours on top of working a full-time job), I wrote a short story, tore all my hair out trying to figure out how the hell anything works in Blender, and then wrote a soundtrack for it. The music took four days, the story about six; the rest was taken up with Blender.

This has been my first attempt at writing a soundtrack - ie, music set to something else - in this case, something as maddeningly inconstant as reading speed. All told, I'm pretty happy with it under the circumstances. It's not perfect, but there's some pretty cool bits in there. Note that I'm still working with a bust woofer on my left monitor, so the mix could be off - particularly as I've been haring after such a tight deadline.

Anyway, despite how mental it's all been, I've enjoyed this project a lot. It's nice to have another gothic Hallowe'en project to add to the old Rude Corps "The Horror! EP" I did way back in 2007. Incidentally, I've included a .PDF of the short story (some 6300 words) as a bonus download thingy. The video of the full project can be seen here: youtu.be/KRfSLDEDrnM

Does this make me a multimedia artist now? *chin scratch*
